Monday Sci-Fi Day

Every day at RMV starts with the raising of our Nations Flag. Head counselors Katie and Mike announced that all Campers should be on the look out for space aliens who have threatened to invade RMV. The weather today was perfect with sunshine from sunrise to sunset.

All the activity areas were busy. Arts and Crafts hummed all day and music was heard coming from the Music and Drama area. Several Campers flew through the air on the Zip Line. Click HERE to experience the Zip Line from the Campers perspective. The fish in the pond didn't have a chance as over thirty fish were caught today. Some Camper went on a hay ride in the afternoon.

The space aliens arrived at dinner, fortunately they came in peace and friendship. After dinner there was a Science Fair. Each cabin was assigned a scientific experiment. The Campers created, volcanoes, tornadoes, quicksand, lava lamps and were able to get a water balloon into a water bottle.

Wednesday, Horror Day

The day started and ended with rain but in between it was a day full of activities. It was another bad day for the fish in the pond but a great day for the Campers in the pool. A couple of monsters paid a visit to RMV and there was a costume contests at the afternoon snack. Tie-die t-shirts was the craft of the day.

Ponderosa Cabin was converted to a haunted house for the evening activities. Monsters and scary hollywood characters came out as the sun set.

Thursday,Musicals Day

Another fun and exciting day at RMV. Today is the last full day of Freedom Week and all the Campers wanted to do everything just one more time. Campers finished their art projects, caught just one more fish, enjoyed the freedom of flying down the Zip Line, pounded a beat on the drums at Music and Drama, visited the horses down at the stables, and spent some quality time with new friends.

Rain moved the Campers indoors for the movie "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" Several characters came alive, played by camp counselors.

The day ended with Vespers and the very important dance. After a very busy week the Camper's energy reached it's highest tempo at the dance.

This is our last Blog entry for Freebom week. Please share the Blog entries and the pictures with your Campers when they return home. Thanks for sharing your Camper with us and we look forward to seeing them next year.

Hemo: Tuesday, July 20

The day started out very overcast but energy was still running high. We continued with great camp activities such as arts and crafts, music and drama, horses, swimming, fishing, and the climbing wall and zipline. Frontier cabin had a blast swimming and Rainbow cabin went down the zipline twice, had good patience, and went to horses and paintball. At our hemo training sessions we learned lots of cool things about the body and had fun playing games with our peers. Hoorah to Thomas for doing infusions for Chris and Sean! In the evening we had an all-camp activity with lots of team building and leadership games. Throughout the week we are giving out peace flags to campers who reflect certain qualities; yesterday we worked on hope and today we thought about patience.

Hemo week: Monday, July 19

Lively camp life started up right when campers arrived on Sunday. Late into the night people were singing and playing pranks on each other. In the morning we woke up to a bench on the roof of Aspen Cabin, toilet paper on many of our doors, and cabin cheers written in chalk all over the pavement. Today the BOEC campers rose bright and early to go rock climbing! After breakfast those left on camp began the week’s activities. A lot of people enjoyed going fishing in the morning because the weather was so pleasant. Many of us also got to have a go at the zipline and climbing wall! A very exciting experience. In the evening we had an awesome all-camp activity called Water World. There were lots of different games set up around camp that involved getting oneself wet as well as getting someone else wet! We arrived back to our cabins soaking wet but having had a blast (of both fun and water). There’s also a lot of camping going on this week; the BOEC boys are kickin’ it at Push Camp all week and there will be two different nights of optional camping for everyone else. Can’t wait for Tuesday!

Sports and games, music and drama and the mud pit were also open during this time.

Horizon Week

Horizon Week began today with 13 campers arriving at RMV for a few fun filled days. Afternoon activities began at 4 p.m. The swimming pool was opened for a free swim while face painting and paint drums took place in the pavilion. Inclement weather forced shortened post-dinner activities but not before a few fish were caught at the pond.
During the thunderstorm, all activities were moved inside to Gennesse Hall where live music was accompanied by parachute games. Camp songs were sang and s'mores were served before activities commenced for the day. Monday will be the first full day of Horizon Week.
